Kickin' the Slow Cooker

Lately, I’ve been trying to save time for any household task I can, especially cooking. I have four slow cookers. One is ancient and the other is one of those 3-in-1 units. I decided the other day to make Boston baked beans in the ancient crock. 24 hours later and they weren’t done. Equipment malfunction or old beans? I’m testing one of those tomorrow.
After all that work, I felt the need to rescue the beans. Out comes the pressure cooker. I’ve gotten pretty good at using it. I dumped the the Boston baked beans into the pressure cooker and ~30 minutes later with some uncovered simmering and flavor adjustments we had a decent pot of beans. It wasn’t the best Boston baked beans we’ve ever made but it sure beat anything from the store.
